The IWCF has decided to make the Well Control Level 1 course available to anyone interested. This course helps to improve understanding of how incidents can occur, their consequences and methods of prevention.
This is a useful course for anyone new or experienced in deep drilling, particularly students and recent graduates, personnel involved in well control and those simply interested in well control.
This FREE course can be accessed in 2 steps:
- first register, with a valid email address, on the IWCF website to obtain your CR number (to keep for future training with the IWCF):
Once you have submitted your account registration form, you will receive an email containing a confirmation link. Click on the link in the email to confirm that your registration is correct.

Personnel involved in drilling and completion operations (Operators and Service Companies) whose activity may involve the detection of an occurrence.

7 modules cover the following topics:
- Overview of Oil and Gas
- Life Cycle of a Well
- Drilling Rigs
- Well Control During Drilling Operations
- Well Intervention and Workover
- Pressure Control During Well Intervention
- Conclusion.
IWCF CERTIFICATION
A knowledge test is held at the end of each module. Candidates must pass all modules before sitting the final exam. If the candidate achieves a mark of 70% or more in the final exam, they will be able to access their well control level 1 online certificate.
